1. Information I Collect
When visitors leave comments on the site, I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.
2. Why I Collect This Data
- Communication: To display your contribution to the discussion.
- Security: I use the IP address and browser string to protect my server from automated bot attacks and “brute-force” spam.
3. Cookies
If you leave a comment on my site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
4. How Long I Retain Your Data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
5. Where Your Data is Sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Your data is stored securely on my Oracle Cloud instance.
6. Your Rights Over Your Data
If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
